Lenny Breau, Don Francks, Eon Henstridge-"At The Purple Onion"

At The Purple Onion
Following in the footsteps of Lenny Breau's-"The Hallmark Sessions" CD (Art of Life AL1007-2), "At The Purple Onion" captures Lenny performing in a live trio date recorded at the Purple Onion club in Toronto, Canada in August of 1962. This 68-minute previously unreleased live recording features Canadian singer/actor Don Francks on vocals and acoustic bassist Eon Henstridge. The original analog reel-to-reel master tapes have been in the possession of Lenny's former manager, George B. Sukornyk, for over forty years. Includes liner notes by Don Francks, Joey Hollingsworth, George B. Sukornyk and Ron Forbes-Roberts, author of the forthcoming biography: One Long Tune: The Life and Music of Lenny Breau. All tracks have been professionally mastered using 24-bit digital technology.

Buddy Emmons & Lenny Breau-"Minors Aloud"

"Minors Aloud" was recorded at Pete's Place in Nashville, Tennessee on August 7th & 8th, 1978 and originally released the same year on LP on Flying Fish Records. The album features several Jazz standards including Charlie Parker's Scrapple From the Apple and Benny Golson's Killer Joe in addition to the title track co-written by Buddy and Lenny.Buddy Emmons & Lenny Breau The closing track, Lenny Breau's composition, On a Bach Bouree, based upon J.S. Bach's Bouree in E Minor, is a perfect symbiosis of Jazz meets Classical. Buddy and Lenny are joined by acoustic bassist Charles Dungey, keyboardist Randy Goodrum and drummer Kenny Malone. The 6-page CD booklet includes the original album cover artwork and liner notes exactly as they appeared on the original LP release as well as new liner notes written by Buddy Emmons. Also included is a copy of the lead sheet for the title track handwritten by Lenny Breau himself! All tracks have been digitally remastered from the original analog master tapes using 24-bit digital technology.

Art of Life Records is proud to present our first DVD Video release, Lenny Breau & Brad Terry-"Live at the Maine Festival". This rare video performance, which was recorded live at the Maine Festival at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine on August 2nd, 1980,Lenny Breau & Brad Terry features the only known existing video footage of Lenny Breau playing his acoustic seven-string guitar. Lenny and Brad perform two popular Jazz standards, "Emily" by Mercer & Mandel and "Autumn Leaves" by Prevert, Mercer & Kosma. The DVD Bonus Features include an eight minute video interview and performance clips with Brad Terry, two previously unreleased High-Resolution 24-bit/96kHz Audio Only Bonus Tracks by Lenny Breau & Brad Terry ("Limehouse Blues" and "Make Someone Happy") and an extensive Lenny Breau Discography featuring over 100 recordings of Lenny as both a leader and as a sideman which includes artist, album title, year and record label information. The "Live at the Maine Festival" DVD Video is an All Region Code, NTSC, 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen Format disc featuring High-Resolution 24-bit/96kHz Digital Audio Tracks and a Dolby Digital Soundtrack. Lenny Breau discography

Lenny Breau (August 5, 1941–August 12, 1984) was a Canadian guitarist. He was known for blending many styles of music including: country, classical, flamenco and jazz guitar. Breau, inspired by country guitarists like Chet Atkins, used fingerstyle techniques not often used in jazz guitar.
